Physical therapy
In 1991 I finished my studies in Physical Therapies with my final thesis on Scientific Research.  At first I worked at several Sport Centers.  There I organized and lead groups such as Medical Fitness, Fitness for Heart Rehab, Nutrition and Movement coaching.

Spine & Joint Centre, Rotterdam
After several years I was asked to join the new and innovative Spine & Joint Center.  This center specialized in Pelvic Instability and chronic Back Issues.   Here I worked five years, the last three of which I reigned as Head of Therapy Dept.
Because we researched Pelvic Instability &  Chronic Back Issues, and worked together with the Rotterdam Medical University, I was often asked to give readings on this subject at various locations throughout the Netherlands, while at the same time I taught at the Dutch Paramedic Institute. (NPI)

Bonaire Basics

Back, pelvic and pelvic floor
Because many Back & Pelvic issues affect the functioning of the lower pelvic area, I ended up also studying and specializing in this area, which lead to studies in Pregnancy and Pelvic floor.

Specialized physical therapy on Bonaire
In 2002 , on Bonaire, I continue my specialty.  Here, too, I work as a Physical Therapist and aim mainly toward chronic Pelvic & Back issues.

Because science (specialy in the Universities of Brisbane and Melbourne) has showed that with backpain there is a delay of the contraction of the m multifidus and the m transverses abdominus the stabilization of the spine diminishes. Therefore back- and pelvic pain tend to become chronic. Instability of the spine and pelvic can also lead to pain in stomach, pelvic, hip or groin area.

Results
With the experience of working with this specific therapy Annemiek has helped different people her on Bonaire
•    recovering their inability to walk without pain in the pelvic area (pelvic instability),
•    to release chronic stomach pain (hypertone pelvic floor and in proper breathing pattern) ,
•    to function optimal without chronic back pain (instability of the spine),
•    to continue their pregnancy without or with less disfunction to recover completely from giving birth .
